1. Introduction

Welcome to the WSRO Academy.

The Platform has been developed to provide online learning, professional development and educational resources for individuals participating in training delivered by the World Sugar Research Organisation (WSRO).

These Terms of Use explain the responsibilities of both WSRO and users of the Platform and are intended to ensure that everyone can use the Platform safely, responsibly and effectively.

By creating an account or accessing the Platform, you agree to comply with this Site Policy and Terms of Use.

2. Purpose of the platform

The WSRO Learning Platform has been developed to:

• provide access to online learning programmes;
• support professional development;
• deliver assessments and knowledge checks;
• issue certificates of completion where applicable;
• record learning progress;
• provide educational resources and reference materials.

The Platform is intended solely for legitimate educational and professional learning purposes.

3. Acceptance of this policy

When registering for the Platform, users will be asked to acknowledge that they have read and agree to these Terms of Use.

Continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of any updated versions of this policy that are published in accordance with Section 16.

4. Creating an account

Where self-registration is available, users are responsible for ensuring that the information provided during registration is accurate and complete.

You agree to:

• provide truthful information;
• keep your contact details up to date;
• use an email address that belongs to you;
• update your profile if your details change.

WSRO reserves the right to verify account information where appropriate.

Where accounts are created on behalf of learners by WSRO administrators, users should review their account details and notify WSRO if any information is incorrect.

5. Your responsibilities

As a user of the Platform, you are responsible for:

• maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials;
• ensuring your account is used only by you;
• completing learning activities honestly;
• respecting other users and administrators;
• complying with applicable laws;
• following any course-specific instructions.

You should notify WSRO promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

6. Acceptable use

You may use the Platform only for its intended educational purposes.

You must not:

• attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform;
• interfere with the operation or security of the Platform;
• upload malicious software or harmful code;
• copy or distribute learning materials without permission;
• use another person's account;
• impersonate another individual;
• deliberately disrupt learning activities;
• misuse discussion forums or communication tools (where available).

WSRO reserves the right to investigate suspected misuse of the Platform.

7. User conduct

We ask all users to contribute to a respectful and professional learning environment.

Users should:

• communicate respectfully;
• avoid offensive, discriminatory or abusive language;
• respect the opinions of others;
• comply with any moderation guidelines.

Behaviour that may intimidate, harass or disadvantage other users will not be tolerated.

Where discussion forums or collaborative activities are enabled, users remain responsible for the content they post.

8. Learning content

All learning materials provided through the Platform are intended for educational use only.

Content may include:

• online courses;
• videos;
• downloadable resources;
• quizzes;
• assessments;
• certificates;
• reference documents.

Learning materials should not be modified, reproduced or distributed without permission unless explicitly stated.

WSRO may update learning materials at any time to reflect changes in guidance, research or best practice.

9. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, all learning materials available through the Platform are protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.

This includes:

• course content;
• graphics;
• videos;
• animations;
• branding;
• downloadable documents;
• assessments.

Users are granted a limited, non-exclusive licence to access and use these materials solely for their own learning.

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of intellectual property to users.

10. Learning records and certificates

The Platform records learner activity in order to administer courses and demonstrate completion of learning.

Learning records may include:

• enrolments;
• progress;
• assessment attempts;
• completion dates;
• certificates.

Certificates are issued automatically where course completion criteria have been met.

Certificates remain the property of WSRO and may be verified where appropriate.

Users should not alter or falsify certificates issued through the Platform.

Providing false or misleading evidence of certification may result in removal of access and, where appropriate, further action.

11. Platform availability

WSRO and Eggu aim to provide a reliable learning platform.

However, uninterrupted access cannot be guaranteed.

Access may occasionally be affected by:

• planned maintenance;
• security updates;
• software upgrades;
• server maintenance;
• unexpected technical faults.

Where practical, planned maintenance will be scheduled outside normal usage hours and advance notice will be provided.

Neither WSRO nor Eggu accepts liability for temporary interruptions that are reasonably necessary to maintain or improve the Platform.

12. Technical support

Technical support for the Platform is provided by Eggu on behalf of WSRO.

Support may include assistance with:

• logging in;
• password resets;
• accessing courses;
• technical faults;
• browser compatibility;
• certificates;
• general platform use.

Support requests will be handled as promptly as reasonably possible.

Some issues may require investigation or escalation before they can be resolved.

13. Accessibility

WSRO is committed to providing an inclusive learning environment.

The Platform is designed with accessibility in mind and aims to support recognised accessibility standards where practical.

Accessibility improvements are reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Users who experience accessibility barriers are encouraged to contact WSRO so that appropriate assistance or alternative formats can be considered.

14. Security

Users play an important role in maintaining the security of the Platform.

You should:

• keep your password confidential;
• use a secure internet connection where possible;
• log out when using shared devices;
• report suspected security issues promptly.

You must not:

• attempt to bypass security controls;
• test the security of the Platform without authorisation;
• access information belonging to other users.

WSRO may monitor the Platform to maintain security and investigate suspected misuse.

15. Suspension or removal of access

WSRO reserves the right to suspend or remove access where necessary.

Examples include:

• breach of these Terms;
• misuse of the Platform;
• unauthorised access attempts;
• fraudulent activity;
• behaviour that compromises the security or integrity of the Platform;
• prolonged inactivity, where appropriate.

Where possible, users will be informed before access is removed.

However, immediate suspension may be necessary where security is at risk.

Removal of access does not automatically result in deletion of learning records, which will continue to be managed in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

16. Changes to this policy

WSRO may update these Terms of Use from time to time to reflect:

• changes in legislation;
• improvements to the Platform;
• new functionality;
• changes in organisational processes.

Where significant changes are made, users may be asked to review and accept the updated policy when they next log in.

The latest version will always be available within the Platform.
